Alt-country singer-songwriter Matthew Ryan (born Ryan Webb in Philadelphia) started playing guitar aged 17, inspired by a love of The Clash and The Replacements. He has released 13 albums over his career, releasing the first, May Day, in 1997 and the latest an acoustic version of 2018's Hustle Up Starlings. His songs usually cover the topics of girls, socio-political issues and brotherhood, and he collaborated with Neilson Hubbard to form the band Strays Don't Sleep.
