Kitchens of Distinction are an English alternative rock trio formed in Tooting, South London in 1986, by Patrick Fitzgerald (Vocals/Bass), Julian Swales (Guitar), and Dan Goodwin (Drums). They released four studio albums and a handful of singles and EPs before disbanding in 1996.
Their melodic yet abstract sound is seen as somewhat of a precursor to Shoegaze.
