SHHE is a Scottish-Portuguese sound artist, musician and producer. Based in Dundee, Scotland, her work explores themes of identity and connection at the intersection between sound and space, environment and ecology, and research and performance. Sound works, performances and installations have been presented at V&A Dundee co-commissioned by MSCTY Tokyo, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Edinburgh Festival, Celtic Connections, Summerhall, Cryptic Nights (Scotland), HANGAR (Portugal), Rawabet/Jesuit Cultural Centre (Egypt), Tankur/Westfjords Residency (Iceland), Erbil Citadel (Iraq-Kurdistan), Radiophrenia, and BFI, British Council and Sensoria’s FAMLAB (digital). Her eponymous debut album ‘SHHE’ was released by One Little Independent Records and was shortlisted for Scottish Album of the Year 2020. She followed it with ‘DÝRA’, an ambient project that took form during a self-directed artist residency in the Westfjords of Iceland, influenced by the tranquillity of the Dýrafjörður fjord. Immersed in a distinct landscape with quietly monumental surroundings, Shaw began documenting her experience of the environment through field recordings and environmental data captured across several geographical locations.
