Dr Benjamin Obadiah Iqbal Zephaniah was born and raised in Birmingham but moved to London aged 22. Strongly influenced by the music and poetry of Jamaica and "street politics", the dub poet became the sound of the protests against SUS laws, high unemployment, homelessness and the National Front in the 1980s. His 2005 One Little Independent album 'Naked' mixed jazz, reggae, hip hop, rock and house, and featured reproductions of Banksy's artwork in the booklet that came with the CD.
