To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its original release, No-Man will reissue their debut album ‘Loveblows & Lovecries - A Confession’ on January 23rd, returning a long-unavailable cornerstone of the band’s early catalogue to standalone release for the first time since the mid-1990s.
Originally released in 1993, ‘Loveblows & Lovecries - A Confession’ marked the first full statement from Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson’s quietly radical collaboration, capturing a band operating somewhere between electronic pop, art-rock and atmospheric experimentation. Joined by violinist Ben Coleman, and featuring key contributions from Japan’s Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri and Mick Karn, the album established No-Man’s distinctive “beauty and the beat” aesthetic, reaching a dramatic peak on the majestic ‘Sweetheart Raw’.
Unavailable for decades outside of larger box set configurations, this 30th anniversary reissue returns the album to the spotlight. The double CD edition pairs Steven Wilson’s 2023 ‘Housekeeping’ remaster on disc one with a second disc of complementary material, including B-sides, radio sessions, and previously unreleased edits that document the exploratory spirit of No-Man’s formative years. The set is presented in digipak format and includes sleeve notes.
A black vinyl LP edition is also released to mark the anniversary, again featuring Steven Wilson’s 2023 remaster. Presented in a faithful replica of the original cover artwork, the vinyl edition offers the album as it was first experienced, newly revitalised while remaining true to its original character.
An inventive and emotionally charged collection, ‘Loveblows & Lovecries - A Confession’ stands as a foundational work in the No-Man story, a record whose influence continues to resonate three decades on.
