Described by Steve Lamacq as "lyrically erudite", Official Secrets Act formed in Leeds, where they attended university. They decamped to Manchester to write their 2009 debut album Understanding Electricity before returning to London to record it at Ray Davies's Konk Studio in Hornsey. Influenced by Bowie, Talking Heads and ELO, their songs are shaped by the minutiae of everyday life and the decisive wordplay of great poets past as to what it means to be young, quizzical and coming of age in 21st century Britain.
