The Shamen, a forward-thinking fusion of electronica, acid house and psychedelia, signed to OLI in 1989. The Shamen introduced the UK to Touring Club events with their 1988 Synergy shows and were the first UK band to release singles, albums and live show broadcasts on the internet in 1995. They were awarded an Ivor Novello for 'Songwriters of the Year' in 1992.
Hempton Manor was released in 1996. It is inspired by and dedicated to hemp and features a liner printed on hemp-based paper. Hempton Manor hybridizes tripped out techno, spacey dub and frenetic drum and bass styles.
