Originally released by One Little Independent in 2004, ‘Scissors In My Pocket’ introduced Polly Paulusma as a songwriter whose folk roots wound their way into chamber pop and jazz, with a contemporary, literary writing style. It announced her as an artist of rare emotional intelligence and remarkable confidence. Now, more than twenty years later, its songs have lost none of their intimacy or power. ‘Scissors In My Pocket (21st Anniversary Edition)’ is released on October 2nd via One Little Independent Records and her own Wild Sound imprint.
This deluxe reissue returns Paulusma’s celebrated debut to the spotlight, pairing the original eleven-track album with five bonus recordings from the same prolific writing period. Three of these - ‘Orion’s Belt’, ‘Two Stars’, and ‘Leave Your Keys’ - originally appeared as sought-after B-sides during the album’s 2004 single campaign, while ‘My Errant Knight’ and ‘Pentecostosis’, written and recorded alongside the album itself, are released here for the very first time.
